This application can be used by applicants for Camp Staff as well as Counselors In Training (CIT).

Applicants for Camp Staff should be at least 15 years of age.

Applicants for the CIT program should be at least 14 years of age. To be eligible for the CIT program, a person must:

be a registered Scout, Explorer, or Venturer
be at least 14 years of age before his stay at camp
have experience in Unit leadership
be in good physical condition (a current medical form is required)
have an interest in instructing Scouting skills to others
be able to aquire a work permit from an institution of education

Due to Louisiana State Labor regulations, Scouts under the age of 14 are not eligible for this program

CAMP STAFF

Housing: You will be expected to reside in housing provided by Camp Avondale as part of your employment. Staff housing for staff is a wall tent with two floor boards, and electricity is available. One person will be assigned per tent. Counselor’s-In-Training may be assigned two persons per tent. Family housing is not provided. Management reserved the right to enter your quarters for inspection at its discretion.

In an effort to give 15-year-old Scouts an opportunity for Summer Camp employment and become a member of our 2012 Summer Camp Staff, the Istrouma Area council will accept and consider their applications for staff. The Council must comply with strict Louisiana Department of Child Labor requirements, which regulate the number of hours that can be worked daily and weekly. The State may monitor and conduct an on-site inspection during summer camp. Fifteen-year-old applicants must meet all of the above requirements and agree to the strict labor regulations. They will include working less than eight hours per day between the hours of 7:00 am to 9:00 pm and no more than 40 hours in a six day period.
